    Overview

    Meta XR Simulator v83 is a major update, introducing a standalone XR simulation runtime for rapid development and testing of Meta Quest applications on your development machine. This release brings full support for OpenXR applications, a revamped user interface for easier and faster development and significant improvements to device and input simulation, synthetic environments (mixed reality support), and reliability upgrades.
    For a better experience, remove existing meta.xr.simulator package from your Unity project.

  • Issues with Unreal -
  • Multiplayer Window Limitation: When using OculusXR settings in multiplayer mode, multiple windows on the XR Sim interface may not open as expected.
  • Listen Server Stability: Running the application in netmode as a listen server can result in an Unreal Engine crash under certain conditions.
  • Editor Multiplayer Settings Crash: Selecting "Standalone" as the preview mode and enabling "Run HMD under one process" in Editor Preferences → Multiplayer (with Unreal settings) may lead to a crash.
  • Only one OpenXR runtime can be active at a time; activating XR Simulator will deactivate others (e.g., Quest Link).
  • Some advanced features may require restarting the simulator to take effect
