The Meta AI Developer Assistant answers questions about documentation, your apps, and your account data from a panel built into the Meta VR developer site. It is read-only, with no installation and no configuration. It appears on two surfaces: the Meta VR Developer Center, which hosts this documentation, and the Developer Dashboard, where you manage apps, submissions, and analytics.
Accessing the Developer assistant
Sign in with your Meta developer account, then look for this icon: . The icon carries no visible text label: “Ask AI” exists only as an accessible label for screen readers, so look for the icon rather than for wording.
In the Meta VR Developer Center, the icon sits in the top navigation bar, immediately after Search.
In the Developer Dashboard, the icon sits in the top navigation bar, immediately after Help.
Selecting the icon opens a panel titled Developer assistant.
How it works
Documentation: Searches the developer documentation and reads the page you are currently viewing. It can infer Unity or Unreal from your apps. It can also use a platform stated in the current context to narrow engine and SDK results to Android, Immersive Web SDK, Meta Spatial SDK, native, Unity, Unreal, or web.
Known issues: Looks up issues already under investigation, so you can tell a known problem from one in your own code.
Apps and submissions: Retrieves application and submission detail, including submission status, the latest reviewed submission, and build and store-listing detail. It also surfaces reviewer feedback on builds and store listings.
Analytics: Reports usage metrics such as active users, installs, retention, growth, and time spent. It covers quality metrics: crash count and rate, crash detail, frames per second, central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) utilization, memory, and startup time. It also covers store funnel and wishlist conversion, plus peer benchmarks that report your value, its percentile ranking, and the 20th and 80th percentile figures.
Monetization: Retrieves add-ons, bundles, subscriptions, and offer groups. It also reports promo codes, sales, trials, gift cards, and revenue and refund metrics.
Organizations: Retrieves the organizations you belong to, members, roles, and the permissions matrix. It reaches only those organizations.
Calculation: Performs arithmetic, unit conversion, and date math on the figures it retrieves, such as converting a crash count into a rate.
Support: For an issue it cannot resolve, it offers a button that opens a prefilled support request. Review the details, add anything missing, and submit it yourself. Nothing reaches support until you submit.
Scope and limits
The assistant is focused on Meta VR development. It declines questions outside that scope, such as general knowledge, trivia, personal or medical advice, and unrelated programming topics.
Conversations and history
Open Chat history from the panel header to see your past conversations, then select Back to chat to return. Chat history is a view inside the assistant panel rather than a separate panel.
Conversations list newest first, loading more as you scroll.
Each entry shows a generated title and a delete control.
The empty state displays “No previous conversations”.
Opening the assistant starts a new conversation each time. Earlier conversations remain in Chat history.
How to provide feedback
Thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls sit under each answer. Selecting an active thumb again clears the rating, and selecting thumbs down opens a short form where you can add feedback.
To report a problem with the assistant itself, use the Report a bug control in the panel header. It captures a screenshot of the page and files a report.
