Since we
first announced our vision for Meta Horizon OS and Meta Horizon Store, we’ve worked to remove distribution barriers and open up the Store for all developers to publish their apps to a wider audience. On August 16, we finished moving titles from App Lab to the Meta Horizon Store so they can be discovered by everyone. With that completion, many new tools are now available to you to help you grow your business and find sustainable success.
Below, you’ll find a guide covering the latest tools you can learn and leverage to grow your business on the Meta Horizon Store. Dive in to discover features that help fine-tune your monetization model, build an audience, drive conversion rates, and much more.
Discover Pre-launch Tools for New Apps
Building a new app doesn’t mean you have to wait until launch day to start igniting interest with Meta Quest owners. With pre-launch tools, you can advertise your upcoming app in the Meta Horizon Store and accumulate pre-orders to hit the ground running on launch day.
- Coming Soon pages enable users to Wishlist your app and can be activated up to 180 days ahead of launch. When users Wishlist your app via a Coming Soon page, they will be notified when it launches or goes on sale.
- Pre-Orders allow users to pre-purchase your app up to 90 days ahead of launch. When users pre-order your app, they will be charged 24 hours before launch date.
Drive Revenue with Additional Content
With fully-scoped monetization features now available to all developers, you can expand your monetization model to include additional content that rewards your app’s biggest fans and sparks new interest from idle users and prospective consumers. If you’re new to the Meta Horizon Store, check out two new pathways to monetization:
- Add-On Content and Downloadable Content: Whether you want to create new levels, cosmetics, characters, or any type of additional content, Add-On Content is a great model to build on, enabling users to purchase content that expands on the base user experience. You can also tie new downloadable content to your add-on in-app purchases and schedule new specific releases ahead of time with our new add-on scheduling feature.
- Subscriptions: Whether your business model requires recurring revenue based on your content, a need to fund continued improvements, or a need to cover various costs associated with your services, subscriptions are a great monetization model you can leverage to address your needs. Subscriptions enable you to customize pricing, duration periods, content combinations, and even free trials that automatically convert to recurring paid subscriptions at the end of the free trial.
Grow Your User Base
With the holiday season just around the corner, now is the time to grow your user base and make sure you’re putting your best foot forward to convert potential users into engaged fans. Below are some tools that will help your app be more discoverable and help you grow your user base.
- Creative A/B Testing is a great way to improve your app’s Product Details Page (PDP), attract more potential users, and measure the impact of your creative assets over time. With A/B Testing, you can test different cover art, trailers, descriptions, screenshots, and more assets that help market your app. These tests can help you determine what kind of messaging and visuals help your conversion rate, along with a full analytics suite in the Developer Dashboard enabling you to view the performance and impact of current and previous tests. With customizable features such as audience split, confidence level, and the ability to automatically publish “winning” assets from your test, you can ensure you get the most value from your tests and keep your content fresh throughout the year.
- Try-Before-You-Buy (TBYB) gives users a 15-30 minute limited trial of your app before purchasing it. Similar to A/B Testing, you can run tests on TBYB to see if these trials help convert potential users into customers. These tests enable you to choose an audience split and offer analytics to determine their impact on audiences.
- App Localization addresses Meta Horizon Store’s expanding international ecosystem. Translating your app’s name and description, or adjusting pricing for different regions can help improve your app's conversion rates. Some of the top markets we recommend localizing for include USD $, JPY ¥, GBP £, EUR €, C$, AUD $, and KRW ₩.
- App Ads can help you reach potential users by displaying ads on Facebook and Instagram. You can set up specific targeting to address the right audience and tailor ads for both Feeds and Stories.
- Enrolling in Meta Open Sales or Promotions can increase distribution and boost discoverability by encouraging users to take advantage of temporary price discounts. Inside the Developer Center is a Meta Promotion Calendar where you can enroll in any Meta-initiated sale or promo code. You can measure effectiveness in the Promotion Analytics table, which provides information such as total revenue earned from the sale, changes in revenue from the preceding period, and changes in downloads from the preceding period.
- Additionally, you can also create your own sales and promotions outside of the Meta Promotion calendar. Creating sales and promotions during seasonal events and periods such as holidays can help you capitalize on increased spending.
A/B Testing enables you to test alternate versions of your app’s creative assets.
Additional tools to help you manage your business
Beyond tools helping you engage users and grow your user base, we offer additional tools to help manage your business, evaluate user sentiment, and moderate feedback.
- User Review Management is also now available to help you respond to reviews, flag reviews that may need to be moderated, and more. Engaging and answering user reviews, questions, and comments is a great way to address expectations and set the stage for potential users.
As you continue to grow and find success on the Meta Horizon Store, remember that these new tools are here to help you throughout your app’s lifecycle. With in-depth documentation and analytics, these tools can help you optimize your app's Store performance and build a loyal following. We're excited to see what you create next, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
