Designed Around Open Tools and Standards

As leaders in the haptics space, we’re continuing to support open standards that benefit the larger industry. The .haptic format and haptic rendering modules from Meta Haptics SDK (Unity | Unreal | Native) are open source so developers can use them across platforms supported by Wwise and FMOD. This helps unify workflows and contributes to ongoing standardization efforts through OpenXR.

How it Works: Workflow Overview

The workflow for leveraging haptics in your favorite audio middleware is simple:
  1. Design effects in Meta Haptics Studio
  2. Export as .haptic files
  3. Import into FMOD or Wwise
FMOD support is available today through the Haptics Instrument in FMOD 2.03.11, while Wwise will natively support .haptic in early 2026. Check out the FMOD documentation for more information.
