Smarter Pricing, Better Trials, and Deeper Analytics for VR Developers
Read time: ~8 minutes
In our last product update, we focused on pre-launch improvements: longer Coming Soon windows, expanded cross-platform login support, and more. Those updates gave you more time and strategies to build demand before launch day. Now, let's talk about how to drive revenue from day one and hit the ground running after launch.
TL;DR:
Today we're covering a set of improvements across pricing, trials, analytics, and quality monitoring. These are the tools that help you grow revenue from existing users, test what works, and catch crucial issues early.
Bundles in sales: Your app bundles can now automatically participate in store-wide sales.
Bundle editing: Edit select fields in live bundles without waiting for a full review (description or asset updates still require review).
Achievement-based TBYB: Let in-app milestones define your free trial period instead of a timer.
Bayesian A/B testing: Run A/B tests with your trials to see what converts better.
User Demographics: Get a granular look at the age, location, and play habits of your audience.
Automatic quality alerts: Subscribe to alerts that notify you when crash rates, frame rates, startup times, or star ratings cross critical limits after a release.

Enroll Bundles in Storewide Sales
When a major sales event runs (like the Store on Meta Quest Summer Sale), individual apps and add-ons can participate automatically. But until now, bundles couldn't. That meant missed promotional opportunities for your best-performing offerings during peak shopping moments when players are most active and ready to buy.
Now, bundles are eligible for storewide sales events. Add your bundles to a promotional group along with your other items, and they'll be included at the discounted rate when the next storewide sale starts.
Separately, you can now set per-country base pricing on bundles themselves. A bundle priced at $29.99 in the US might be $24.99 in a market where players are more price-sensitive. You configure these prices directly in your bundle's settings, independent of any promotion or enrollment group, so your regional pricing is already optimized before a sale even starts.
How to use it: In the Developer Dashboard, go to Manage Promotions and open your existing promo group configuration. Bundles will now appear as eligible items. For new promotions, navigate to your bundle's pricing settings and configure the discount price directly in the bundle.
💡 Pro Tip:
Even if you only have one bundle, adding it to your promo group takes under five minutes and means you never miss a storewide sale again. Set it and forget it.
Bundles are eligible for promo groups and support per-country base pricing, all configured in one place.
Edit Bundles After Approval
Previously, making changes to an approved bundle required resubmitting it for review. This added days of wait time for what might be a minor price adjustment or item swap.
You can now edit active, live bundles without going back through review. Adjusting pricing, swapping items, or changing cover art takes minutes instead of days. You can also schedule changes to go live three days after you make them, giving you the agility to plan ahead and adjust quickly if needed. Note: Changes to descriptions or assets still go through the standard review process.
How to use it: Navigate to your bundle in the Developer Dashboard. Editable fields remain active on approved bundles (the page header will show "Edit bundle details"). Make your changes, save as draft, or submit. Pricing and item updates go live without a new review cycle.
Achievement-Based Try Before You Buy
Try Before You Buy (TBYB) gives users a timed slice of your app. Usually, this is a fixed amount of time (like 15 or 30 minutes) from the first time the app opened.
Achievement-based TBYB changes the trigger. Instead of a countdown, you define a success condition. A player might complete a tutorial, reach a certain level, or finish a challenge. The purchase prompt appears at a moment when a player feels accomplished, not when a timer runs out.
Players who engage deeply enough to hit a milestone are more likely to convert. You control the experience, and the purchase prompt arrives at a moment of achievement.
How to use it: In the Developer Dashboard, navigate to your app's TBYB settings under Growth. Select "Achievement-based" as the trial type and configure the achievement that triggers the conversion prompt. See our TBYB documentation for setup details.
With achievement-based TBYB, you define the success condition. The purchase prompt shows up when a player completes a milestone, not when a timer expires.
Pre-Launch Funnel Analytics
Understanding how players move from discovery to purchase is critical to your success, but that data wasn't historically easy to access before your app went live. Now Pre-launch Analytics changes that.
It gives you visibility into conversion while your app is still in Coming Soon or Pre-Order status so you can see how many users are viewing your product page, adding your app to wishlists, and converting to pre-orders, all in one place.
This is especially useful if you extended your Coming Soon window (now up to 360 days). A full year of pre-launch data means you can spot what's working, adjust your assets, and build momentum based on real numbers rather than guesses.
How to use it: In the Developer Dashboard, navigate to your app's Analytics section. The pre-launch funnel view is available for apps in Coming Soon or pre-order status. See our funnel analytics documentation for details.
💡 Pro Tip:
If you're working with a limited marketing budget, the pre-launch funnel shows you which channel is converting best before you've spent it all. Check it weekly during your Coming Soon window.
Pre-launch funnel analytics shows you how players move from viewing your product page to wishlisting to purchasing, all while your app is still in Coming Soon or Pre-Order status.
TBYB A/B Testing with Bayesian Analysis
Consider this: You launched a TBYB trial. Downloads didn't spike. Was the trial too short, or is something else off? Without the right data, you might be guessing.
The new Bayesian A/B testing methodology gives you probability-based insights instead of pass/fail results. Rather than waiting for statistical significance with a fixed sample size, you get a continuously updating view of how likely your trial configuration is to improve conversions.
You'll also see how your conversion rate compares to similar apps. Peer benchmark cards show your TBYB trial-to-purchase rate against apps in your genre and across all apps using TBYB. If your rate is below the median, you know there's room to optimize. If you're above, you know your setup is working.
How to use it: Run a TBYB experiment from the Growth menu in the Developer Dashboard. Results appear in the TBYB analytics section with probability estimates and peer comparison cards. See the TBYB analytics documentation for interpreting results.
User Demographics Analytics
Knowing who your players are helps you make better decisions about new content, localization, and marketing. Now a new User Demographics tab in your analytics dashboard provides three views:
Age distribution shows how your user base breaks down by age group. If you're building a fitness app and discover a large segment of users over 40, that shapes your content roadmap differently than if your audience skews younger.
Location data shows where your users are by country, with state-level detail for the US. This is the data you need to decide whether to invest in localization for a specific market.
Play habits show when your users are most active by hour and day of week. Use this to time your content updates, sales events, and community engagement for maximum visibility.
How to use it: You can find the User Demographics tab under Analytics in the Developer Dashboard. All data is anonymized and aggregated for privacy (minimum 100 lifetime users per metric), and restricted to DUC-compliant apps.
User Demographics enables developers to make informed content, localization, and marketing decisions based on who their players are, where they live, and when they play. Note: this dashboard is for illustrative purposes only.
Automatic Quality Monitoring and Annotations
When something breaks after you ship an update, the last thing you want is players discovering it before you do.
Quality threshold alerts solve this. Subscribe once, and the system monitors your release against four performance limits:
User crash rate exceeds 5%
Average device frame rate for Quest 3 drops below 72fps
Every 1-star app rating
Startup time exceeds 19 seconds
If any threshold is crossed after a release, you get an email alert. No ongoing configuration required. You subscribe once and monitoring runs automatically for every future update, giving you an early warning before bad reviews pour in.
Beyond threshold alerts, you can also set up benchmark alerts that compare your app's performance against category averages. Both alert types are configurable from the same Alerts page.
Alongside alerts, automated annotations appear on your analytics charts. When you view a spike in crashes, the chart shows exactly what changed, such as a release of a new app version or a Meta Horizon OS update. That makes it much easier to correlate problems to specific changes, so your team knows exactly where to look.
How to use it: In the Developer Dashboard, click Analytics, then Alerts. You'll see the Alerting panel with threshold alerts, benchmark alerts, and settings tabs. Click 'Subscribe' to opt in to threshold alerts for your app.
Quality alerts and annotations work together: you get an email when something crosses a critical threshold, and the accompanying chart shows you why. Note: this graph is for illustrative purposes only.
