Meta Quest Developer Hub (MQDH) 3.0

Blog Hero Image
At Meta Connect 2022, we announced that Oculus Developer Hub has a new name—Meta Quest Developer Hub (MQDH)—but that’s not all. To help you stay tuned in with the latest updates and features, we’ve created a new MQDH webpage that you can visit today.
MQDH helps you improve development iteration time, measure app performance, and stay informed on developer news. Our latest update includes new capabilities and improvements to existing features that will improve your daily VR development workflow. Here are the highlights:
  • Support for Meta Quest Pro
  • Device Performance Improvements
  • Clear Build Upload Errors
  • Passthrough Capture
  • No v3.0 autoupdate for MacOS

Support for Meta Quest Pro

Meta Quest Pro—our newest and most powerful VR headset—was officially unveiled at Meta Connect 2022. Meta Quest Pro features 12GB of RAM, 10 high-resolution sensors, and a host of other features that enable you to build with cutting-edge capabilities like full-color Passthrough, eye and face tracking, and more. MQDH 3.0 (and future versions) will support development on Meta Quest Pro. To learn more about Meta Quest Pro, check out our launch blog post.

Device Performance Improvements

MQDH 3.0 has been optimized for better performance profiling. The new version uses substantially less CPU, making performance analysis while using MQDH more accurate and efficient when compared to previous versions of ODH.

Clear Build Upload Errors

We know it can be frustrating when you’re trying to upload builds and it fails without any context or solutions. That’s why we’ve made improvements to our error messaging when uploading builds in MQDH. Starting with v3.0, error messages will contain clear messaging to help you understand why an error occurred—and more importantly, instructions to fix it.

Passthrough Capture

With the recent launch of our Presence Platform and vibrant color Passthrough with Meta Quest Pro, we expect many developers to start experimenting with mixed reality development. Starting with v3.0, Casting and Recording functions now support mixed reality development for Meta Quest Pro. This update will enable color Passthrough to be visible in MQDH using the Meta Quest Pro’s in-headset cameras so you can build and test experiences that leverage mixed reality capabilities more easily. Please note that this feature is not supported for Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2.

No AutoUpdate for MacOS

To update their software, Mac users will need to manually download v3.0 from the MQDH page. AutoUpdate functionality will not be supported for Mac users who are using a version of MQDH that predates v3.0—this includes all versions of the software under the “ODH” branding. AutoUpdate functionality for MacOS will be supported when updating from v3.0 to future versions of the software.

We hope you enjoy MQDH v3.0, and we look forward to your feedback! If you haven’t already downloaded MQDH, you can do so from its new page on our Developer Center. Learn more in our MQDH Documentation. If you have any questions, please let us know in the Developer Forum.
