Debug graphics during development for Meta Quest devices. See the way your app’s engine determined how a scene should be rendered for a single frame.

Version 207.0 Release Notes

RenderDoc Meta Fork is a modified version of RenderDoc maintained by Meta for use with Meta Quest headsets and VR glasses. In addition to RenderDoc's standard graphics debugging capabilities, this version provides access to low-level GPU profiling data from Qualcomm Snapdragon processors powering Meta Quest devices and VR glasses—including the Snapdragon 835 (Quest), XR2 (Quest 2), XR2 Gen 2 (Quest 3/3S), and XR2 Gen 3 (Meta VR Glasses)—with a specific focus on tile-renderer performance. This provides actionable profiling insights tailored for Meta Quest and VR hardware within an established graphics debugger.

Beyond RenderDoc's regular frame capture capabilities, RenderDoc Meta Fork can perform a tile-level render stage trace for a single frame of an app on a connected device. It can also perform a draw call trace that collects up to 60 low-level metrics pertaining to each individual draw call in the capture.

For suggestions, feedback, or bug reports, please reach out via our Developer Tool Feedback forum. Because this is a custom fork, please do not contact BaldurK for support.

This version of RenderDoc Meta Fork requires Horizon OS v207+ for its profiling capabilities.

New Features

  • Integrated upstream RenderDoc v1.45.
  • Added per-render-stage GPU metrics: hardware counters for each render stage.
  • Added per-draw GPU timing on Quest via VK_QCOM_elapsed_timer_query, the default timer when supported by the driver.
  • Added a Clocks column with per-draw GPU clocks in the Event Browser.
  • Added the renderdoccmd command adb-action-time.
  • Added the adb-session commands posthoc, render_stage_trace, frame_time, action_time, highlight, highlight_by_resource, render_pass, device_extensions and runtime_images.
  • Changes & Improvements

  • Performance counters now return all requested counters for every draw.
  • Missing data now shows as N/A instead of zeros or partial results.
  • A GPU memory guard now prevents low-memory crashes and flaky results.
  • Resource usage now includes FDM, shading-rate and resolve attachments.
  • RenderDoc now warns when glProgramBinary is dropped during capture.
  • GPU debug layer settings are now cleared after a UI launch.
  • The server APK is now reinstalled automatically on mismatch.
  • The Diagnostic Log now defaults to warnings.
  • The renderdoccmd commands adb-session, adb-capture, adb-frame-time, adb-fetch-counters and adb-posthoc-analysis are improved.
  • The adb-session commands pixel_history, mesh, mesh_preview, pipeline, passes, stats, texture and rt are improved.
  • The fetch_drawcall_states MCP tool is improved, and the mcp-tool skill now covers common setup pitfalls.
  • Bug Fixes

  • Fixed GLES performance counter issues.
  • Fixed PostHoc Analysis and frame time issues.
  • Fixed MSAA garbage inside render passes (e.g. UE SceneColorMS).
  • Fixed Unreal Engine 5.8 frames split by a duplicate frame_end.
  • Fixed a Windows client crash when sampling counters from non-Quest Android devices.
  • Fixed Diagnostic Log filter issues.
