Meta Quest Apps Must Target Android 10 Starting September 29

Starting September 29, 2022, all new Meta Quest app submissions are required to target Android 10 (API level 29). With this change, we’re taking advantage of security features, fixes, and performance improvements associated with the newer API. This requirement further improves the security and health of the VR ecosystem. This will also allow you to take advantage of new features in the A10 API SDK.

What you can expect:

  • Existing apps using a lower version will continue to work, but any new submissions will need the minimum required API level starting September 29, 2022.
  • You may receive security warnings in the test results page for apps submitted with less than level 29 API starting June 24, 2022.
  • API level 29 will be enforced during binary upload, meaning you will not be able to upload any new binaries at a lower level after September 29, 2022.
