Introducing Cloud Backup

If you tuned in for Connect 2021, you may have heard about Cloud Backup, a new system launching later this year that will back up device app data—including progress and settings for participating apps—to the cloud so users can pick up where they left off in an app. This makes it easier to use apps on new headsets, reinstall apps, or reset a device.
Cloud Backup works at the filesystem level, with no coding required. Apps are opted-in by default, and you can opt out or make adjustments through the Developer Dashboard. You can also back up your app but opt out certain files or folders as described in our documentation. To keep Cloud Backup data safe, app data is encrypted on the individual device and remains encrypted on our servers. Users can choose to opt-out of Cloud Backup in their headset settings.
This service is subject to the Oculus SDK License and Data Processing Terms.
For more information, please see our documentation. If you have any questions, please let us know in the Developer Forums.
