The latest tech updates from our software, integrations, and tools teams have just been released! Major updates include our newest PC SDK with the release of version 1.23, a fix in the Avatar SDK for Unity developers, and Unreal integration updates.
Avatar SDK 1.22.1
With the Avatar SDK, it is easy to bring the avatar appearance users create in Oculus Home into your own applications and make them viewable by other users. Avatars also include hand presence for Touch, letting you integrate Touch interaction into your app. The Avatar SDK v1.22.1 fixes an issue where the Unity Editor appeared unresponsive or stuck when importing the Avatar SDK Unity package. Also, check out the new locomotion sample for avatars in the Sample Framework.
PC SDK 1.23
With the PC SDK 1.23 comes an easy-to-use GUI interface for the Virtual Reality Check (VRC) Validator. The Virtual Reality Check (VRC) Validator utility runs automated tests to determine if your Rift app is ready for Oculus Store technical review. The VRC Validator now provides an easy-to-use GUI interface (in addition to the command-line interface that has been available in previous releases). The GUI interface can be launched from the Oculus Debug Tool. For more information, see VRC Validator.
Also, don't forget that with the introduction of Dash, your application should now indicate whether or not it is prepared to respond to ovrSessionStatus focus states, including ovrSessionStatus::HasInputFocus. For more information, please see Using Oculus Dash.
Unreal Integrations
The newest version of Oculus Unreal Engine 4 Integration 1.23.0 comes with the following new feature.
  • A latency reduction for late-update has been integrated into this release. This is particularly helpful for Oculus mobile platforms.
