What’s New with Developer Analytics: Measure Success and Meet Your Goals
Earlier this year, we introduced a series of improvements to the suite of analytics dashboards you can use within the Developer Dashboard. These updates were designed to provide your organization with more valuable and impactful data so you can accurately measure key factors affecting your success, like app performance, revenue, user engagement, and much more.
Today we’re excited to say that we’ve completed integrating these improvements into nearly every developer analytics page, and your organization can start leveraging these updates today to get a clearer look at where you are so you can plan where you want to be. We’ve also made a couple other changes, including updates to the Performance Analytics dashboard and the ability to export your analytics as a CSV file.
Whether you’re launching your first title or you're thinking about adding new content to your fan-favorite in the Meta Quest Store, our analytics suite can be an invaluable asset throughout your app’s lifecycle by providing the accurate data needed to make informed decisions. Updates to Sessions and Time Spent Definitions
We’ve updated our measurements for sessions and time spent, which means you’ll see changes to several metrics throughout the Analytics pages in the Developer Dashboard.
These updates provide better data for you by tracking user headset don/doff behavior with greater precision when measuring sessions. Changing session measurements impact a handful of metrics like Daily Active Users (DAU) and time spent, which serves as a pulse that checks whether a person continues to engage with VR experiences, aggregating active and inactive time.
You can find a breakdown of all the dashboards being updated as the result of these improvements below. Any data collected prior to September 4, 2023 will continue to display using the previous measurement definition. Please note that the metrics improvements will apply only to Meta Quest and Rift headsets that are on V51+.
The metric deltas resulting from the updated measurements differ significantly across apps. It’s important to note that we recommend viewing these changes as a more accurate representation of your app usage, rather than as increases or decreases.
Removing Available Memory Chart in Performance Analytics
As of October 27, 2023 we’ve removed the Available Memory chart in the Performance Analytics page as a measure of memory performance due to its potential to misrepresent memory use in some cases, which could potentially mean wasted time troubleshooting for you and your team. As a workaround, we suggest using in-headset tooling to reliably measure memory performance.
Manage Promotions with New Analytics & Calendar Tools
You’ve asked for better ways to manage and view the performance of your promotions in the Meta Quest Store, and today we’re excited to tell you that you can find detailed Promotions Analytics in the Developer Dashboard. Not only does this dashboard give you key information you’d expect like total revenue and discount percentage, but it also provides delta revenue and delta purchase, which give you a direct comparison between your promotional period and the preceding period.
For a simplified look at all of your scheduled promotions and their current status, you can click the new “View Meta promotion calendar” button in the top right corner of the Promotions Analytics and Manage Promotions pages in the Developer Dashboard.
Pre-Order Analytics Now Available
We’re excited to share that you can now set up self-serve Pre-Orders in the Developer Dashboard as a streamlined solution for generating momentum and visibility in the Meta Quest Store leading up to launch week. Increasing visibility is a key factor in growing an audience, and this monetization tool not only aids in getting the attention of users, but also minimizes the steps between informing a user about your app and having them purchase it.
After you set up Pre-Orders for your app, you can visit the Revenue Analytics dashboard to find the number of Pre-Orders “purchased” by users and the estimated revenue as the result of entitlements from Pre-Orders. Consistently checking this data leading up to launch can help you understand how audiences are responding to your app’s marketing or creative assets, and adjust accordingly. You can also use early signals regarding revenue to assist with planning investments towards marketing campaigns during and after launch week.
Download & Share Your Analytics Data as a CSV File
To make the data we provide you with more accessible and available offline, we’ve added the ability to export analytics data from each dashboard as a CSV file. This should make sharing data with your team easier and can help you create your own performance snapshots or benchmarks throughout the year to inform your marketing strategy.
