Compare devices
Updated: Sep 18, 2026
Meta Horizon OS powers two device product lines: Meta Quest and Meta VR Glasses. Meta VR devices deliver the freedom of 6 degrees of freedom and the power and flexibility of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. They share a developer software platform but differ in form factor and input. Use the comparison tables below to see how the devices in each line compare. Features such as boundary, passthrough, and hand tracking are available on all devices.
Every Meta VR device can be used as a developer kit. You can use
Binary Device Targeting to target specific Meta VR devices, matching builds to each device’s capabilities.

Meta VR Glasses are a pair of lightweight glasses tethered to a compute puck. The glasses have built-in eye tracking, and eyes and hands are the primary input. Meta Quest Touch Plus Controllers are supported and are available for purchase separately.
Meta VR Glasses are controllerless by default. Interactions designed around Meta Quest controllers map to eyes and hands instead. For input and interaction guidance, see the
Design documentation.
Meta VR Glasses are our most advanced and lightest VR device yet.
Meta Quest devices are wireless all-in-one VR devices.
Controllers are used for primary input but hand tracking is supported.
Meta Quest devices have a wider field of view than Meta VR Glasses: 110° horizontal on Meta Quest 3 and 96° on Meta Quest 3S, compared to 70° on Meta VR Glasses.
