Controllers are intended to create believability of hand or tool interactions by combining an ergonomic form factor with haptic feedback, precise tracking and reliable input controls. Controllers provide a high degree of precision and reliability for many use cases and are the default input modality on the Meta Horizon OS platform.
Voice input can be faster than typing with controllers or hand tracking, or useful in situations where hand mobility is limited. The system keyboard provides built-in voice dictation functionality for faster and easier text input.
With head gaze input, the user is using head movement to target objects. The cursor is displayed at the center of the view to help easier targeting. Head gaze is used as a fallback input on Meta Horizon OS when other input methods are not available. When the head gaze is active the volume button is used to select or interact.
Meta Quest devices support physical keyboards through Bluetooth connection. This input modality allows users to input text quickly and efficiently, leveraging the familiarity and muscle memory of typing on a keyboard.
Meta Quest devices support physical mice through Bluetooth connection. Mouse input enables precise control over interactions, making it ideal for tasks like selecting small objects or navigating complex menus.
Stylus input allows the user to draw and sketch both on 2D surfaces or in 3D space. Stylus input offers high precision and accuracy, making it ideal for tasks like writing, drawing, and selecting small objects.
