Elevate Your Mobile World: Competition Winners and Sharing Improvements

Blog Hero Image
As part of our $50 million investment in the worlds creator community, we recently kicked off our second $1 million creator competition, “Elevate Your Mobile World.” This competition rewards innovative progression and sharing systems built into existing worlds. We received submissions from hundreds of creators from over a dozen countries, and today we’re excited to announce the competition winners along with a set of new in-world capture and sharing experiences designed to help even more people discover your worlds.

Meet the Grand Prize Winners

For our two hero categories, Most Satisfying Progression System and Most Sharable Moments, grand prize winners will take home a cool $100,000, with second place winners and third place winners taking home $60,000 and $50,000, respectively.

Most Satisfying Progression System

Grand Prize Winner: Star Chasers: Mini Games Mayhem (Elevated) by MikeyAce
Starchasers: Mini Games Mayhem is a party game for up to 10 players. Each level features a custom game with unique mechanics, design, landscape and obstacles, but for all levels, the simple objective is still the same: collect as many stars as you can in 90 seconds.
"To elevate Star Chasers: Mini Games Mayhem, once again I was inspired by some of my favorite mobile games and experiences,” says creator MikeyAce. “Progression and self-expression are at the core of many successful games, so I combined both in a system that lets mobile players collect stars to rank up. At each new rank, they earn progressively more fun and hilarious emojis and dance moves they can use to bring their own personality and fun to every game. And people love to share fun experiences, so I also created some epic meme-worthy moments.”
Star Chasers: Mini Games Mayhem (Elevated) was built using a combination of the Worlds desktop editor, World streaming, custom UI, nav mesh, GenAI skyboxes, Camera API, asset pooling, TypeScript, Blender and Photoshop.

Most Shareable Moments

Grand Prize Winner ($100k): Glizzy Gladiator by Matthiaos with collaborators jackburfy and L_in_the_Meta
Glizzy Gladiator is an arena brawler world where hot dogs are weapons and knockouts are legendary! Smash, dash and double-jump your way to glory in this chaotic, fast-paced brawler. Only one Glizzy will reign supreme.
“Glizzy Gladiator was already chaotic and hilarious, but we aimed to make it even more shareable,” says creator Matthiaos. “Inspired by short form content and ridiculous party games, we added visual humor, expressive unlocks, and iconic moments like raining hot dogs.”
With smooth visuals and hilarious celebrations, Glizzy Gladiator creates perfect opportunities to share the fun. “We rebuilt major systems with shareability and parity in mind, new camera angles, SFX, emoji shouts, cinematics, jump VFX, avatar animations, and CUI updates, for both mobile and VR.”

New Ways to Grow Your World

We continue to invest in new features and functionality to support world discovery with new audiences. And given the focus of our most recent creator competition—progression and sharing—we’re spotlighting recent updates that make sharing a more delightful and easier experience for you and your communities.

Leaderboard Sharing

A high score should be celebrated. That’s why we have invested in new share flows that make it easier for people to share leaderboard scores directly from the Meta Horizon app and worlds directly accessed from Facebook and Instagram. When shared in messaging threads in the Meta Horizon app, Instagram and Facebook, leaderboard scores will render as a media rich asset that features the world, score and sharer’s avatar. When the receiver taps on this high score, they will be automatically redirected to the world.
Leaderboard sharing functionality will be enabled automatically via the existing leaderboard gizmo, meaning there is no additional action needed from creators to turn this on for their worlds. To learn more about the leaderboard gizmo, visit the documentation.

Mobile Camera

We’ve launched the ability to capture clean worlds gameplay videos while on mobile. Video captured using the in-product camera feature will mute all player voices and remove UI overlays. That means you’ll have more visual real estate to show off your experience and a simpler workflow to capture, personalize and share content about your world. Additionally, when sharing directly from Horizon to Instagram or Facebook Stories, world attribution will be automatically attached to the content. When clicked, this sticker will prompt a CTA to go to the world where the content was captured.
This capture functionality is available on the Meta Horizon app, as well as those accessing worlds directly from Facebook and Instagram. Learn more in our Help Center article.

World Link Sharing

World links are getting an upgrade on Instagram and Facebook. Now, people can more easily jump into your world from a link shared in Stories, DMs or a broadcast channel. Those with the Meta Horizon app installed will be redirected to that app and will land on the world details page. Those without the Meta Horizon app will travel directly to your world without leaving Instagram or Facebook. Note: if they have never visited Horizon before, they’ll need to go through a short onboarding flow prior to traveling to the world.
Additionally, we have improved the consistency of how this link shows up across Instagram and Facebook. Now, links will consistently feature world key art when media previews are available.
