For any app or business, analytics are essential for understanding what’s working, identifying areas of improvement, and helping you make informed decisions. From tracking revenue trends and average time spent to monitoring app stability and user sentiment, analytics are there to help you grow your business.
We provide every developer building for Meta Horizon OS with a suite of analytics dashboards to provide relevant insight that leads to more informed decision-making. We know that trends can change quickly, which is why we’ve invested in changes that equip you with up-to-date data so you can keep pace with the ever-changing terrain of user behavior and app performance.
To help you react to changes in your app as fast as possible and capitalize on emerging opportunities, we’ve launched real-time analytics across the majority of our analytics dashboards. This change dramatically reduces data ingestion latency so you can make important decisions about your app and marketing efforts with confidence. Keep reading below to learn more about real-time analytics and how you can leverage it to grow your business.

What “Real-Time” Analytics Means and Why We Made the Shift

With real-time analytics, you can expect data to refresh within 15-30 minutes, a dramatic improvement to our legacy analytics. This availability of near-immediate insights helps ensure you have an accurate look into your app’s performance and user behavior, empowering you to act faster and smarter.
Historically, our legacy analytics systems had significant delays—data could take 24 hours or more to become available. While this was sufficient for long-term trend analysis, it wasn’t ideal for rapid decision-making. Migrating to real-time analytics was a complex undertaking requiring a completely new infrastructure and data pipelines. This overhaul was necessary to ensure the accuracy of the new system and was a major area of investment for the analytics team in 2024.

What’s Changed?

Over the past six months, our analytics dashboards have gradually moved from a 24+ hour delay in data availability to a 15-30 minute delay. This shift has already made a profound impact on the way you can use analytics to monitor and optimize your app—for example, when your app launches, you can monitor installs and revenue throughout launch day to determine if you need to adjust and optimize your marketing strategy.
Now you can access the following analytics pages using the new, real-time infrastructure. We’ve migrated the following key analytics pages to the real-time infrastructure, including:
  • Overview
  • Revenue
  • Add-On Content
  • User Engagement
  • Crash
  • Performance
  • Multiplayer (Moved)
  • Funnel (Coming Soon)
  • Subscriptions (Coming Soon)

How to Leverage Real-Time Analytics

Real-time analytics are a game-changer for app monitoring and optimization, allowing you to get more hands-on and trust that your decisions are based on the most up-to-date data. Here are some ways to make the most of this upgrade:
  • Shift from weekly to daily monitoring: With data that’s refreshed every 15 minutes, you can now track key metrics more frequently and address issues proactively. Pro-Tip: You can set up analytics alerts that trigger based on changes in your analytics sent directly to your email.
  • Combine analytics with other tools: Use real-time analytics alongside benchmarks to prioritize and optimize specific improvements.
We believe that these enhancements will significantly improve the way you interact with and utilize analytics, leading to better decision-making, faster response times, and ultimately, more successful apps. We look forward to seeing how you leverage these new capabilities to drive innovation and growth.
