Oculus Publishing: An Official Name for One of VR’s Largest Games Publishers
Aaron Davies, Oculus Publishing Head of Content Strategy
This year marks a full decade since the inception of the original Oculus Content Team. From Kickstarter to Quest, Meta has committed hundreds of millions of dollars in third-party content funding and specialized development support to help make the VR games landscape what it is today. Now, we’re excited to unveil an official name for one of the world’s largest VR games programs for developers: Oculus Publishing.
Oculus Publishing teams up with third-party game developers and co-publishers, and is a companion program to our first-party label Oculus Studios. Oculus Publishing supports partners with game market fit and conceptualization, funding, production, technology advancement, game engineering, promotion and merchandising. Oculus Publishing is honored to have supported many of the VR industry’s top game hits, such as Among Us VR, Bonelab, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Blade & Sorcery: Nomad. We’ve now contributed funding to more than 300 titles, and we have another 150 titles in active development today.
From humble beginnings alongside the most visionary developers in 2013, it’s amazing to see that there are now more than 500 titles available on the Meta Quest Store. Over $1.5 billion has been spent on games and apps, with 40 titles grossing more than $10 million in revenue. Further, the number of titles at the $20-million mark has doubled year over year.
It’s a thrilling past, a compelling present, and a bright future alongside our expanding friends and partners of Oculus Publishing!
