Driving Market Momentum: The Oculus ISV Program Celebrates Its One-Year Anniversary
Oculus VR
When we launched the Oculus Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Program in September 2019 at Oculus Connect 6, we had two key goals in mind. We wanted to help enterprises find commercial VR applications for Oculus headsets, and we wanted to help VR solutions providers grow their businesses by connecting with enterprise customers.
One year later, with more than 600 qualified ISVs in the program, we’re excited about the progress we’ve seen so far. The enterprise VR market is rapidly evolving, and we believe the Oculus ISV ecosystem is helping drive that momentum.
The ISV Program at a Glance
The program is open to ISVs with the following qualifications: They design, develop, and sell innovative enterprise applications; their applications use Oculus VR headsets to increase productivity, increase learning effectiveness, enhance collaboration, and/or enable remote work; and they’ve implemented at least one VR application for a Fortune 2000 company. Three Emerging Trends in the VR Ecosystem
As demand for commercial VR applications grows, enterprises are realizing the value of working with ISVs. Compared to a year ago, enterprises are coming to the table with a better understanding of how VR can help them meet their business objectives, and they have more specific ideas about what they need in an ISV partner. As a result, three trends are starting to emerge:
Many ISVs Are Going Vertical — As they lean into their specialized knowledge of particular vertical segments, more ISVs are building businesses around those markets. OssoVR and Nanome are two Oculus ISV Program members that have turned their medical expertise into thriving businesses that serve healthcare enterprises.
More ISVs Are Transitioning from Custom to Off-The-Shelf Solutions — As ISVs engage with a variety of customers, many are seeing opportunities to create scalable, off-the-shelf VR applications that meet the needs of many different enterprises. After creating custom VR solutions for insurance and other verticals, Talespin is now offering an immersive VR learning series that helps enterprise leaders prepare for times of crisis and uncertainty.
