Build for Inclusion: Raising Black Voices in Gaming & XR
Oculus VR
In 2020, we launched Build for Inclusion, an interactive online learning series designed to keep diverse developers and creators connected, informed, and supported. Through this series and other efforts, including the new Metaverse Culture Series, we’re hoping to bring together a variety of voices and talent from broad spectrums of gender, race, and identities to help shape the conversation around game development and the future of VR.
In the following video from the series, Build for Inclusion: Raising Black Voices in Gaming and XR, Meta's VR Store Content Launch Manager Richard Duck talks with XR Producer and founding partner of VRX Jonathan Williams, as well as Decoy Games Co-Founders Ahmed Abdullah and Khalil Abdullah, creators of Swimsanity! (2020), about raising diverse voices within the developer community and their experience developing unique and award-winning gaming experiences.
The panelists share stories and advice on how to create a better, more inclusive ecosystem that includes voices from all backgrounds. The video also features a special halftime performance by world-renowned magician Eric Jones.
Join the conversation on Twitter and Facebook to connect with fellow developers, ask questions, and receive news about upcoming industry events.
