Meta Connect Recap: How To Build For AI Glasses And Reach an Audience

Blog Hero Image
AI glasses are being worn by millions and building for them is open to more developers than ever before. At Meta Connect, we shared new ways to bring your work to AI glasses and, for the first time, new discovery surfaces where people can explore and start engaging with what you build.
Whether you build mobile apps, web apps, or connect a service to Meta AI through an API, you can start building experiences for AI glasses today with the skills you already have.
The updates in this post begin rolling out September 30, 2026. Dive in below to get a head start on building the future of AI glasses with Meta.

How to build for AI Glasses

We're enabling more ways to build for AI glasses, and new places for people to find what you build. Whether you're starting from an app you've already shipped, a site you run or a service with an API, there's a path for you.
Whichever way you choose to build, agentic coding tools can help you move faster. Point Muse Code, or whatever coding agent you already use, at our developer documentation and it can leverage the reference material it needs to handle setup and scaffold a working app.

🎯 Action item:

Watch the Meta Connect sessions "Building for AI Glasses: A path for every builder" and "Designing for AI glasses" to see why building for AI glasses is easier than ever along with best practices for display and displayless glasses. With new capabilities, agentic tools, build paths and more, you'll discover what the best starting points are based on your skillset.

Extend your mobile app with Meta Wearables Device Access Toolkit

After a year in developer preview, Wearables Device Access Toolkit 1.0 is officially here, so you get a stable, supported release to build on; your mobile app keeps its logic and its backend, and AI glasses become its hands-free front end. Users can launch apps with 'Hey Meta' voice invocation, talk naturally while automatic speech recognition (ASR) turns words into commands your app can act on, and steer with a subtle swipe on Meta Neural Band. One integration covers both display and displayless AI glasses.
And 1.0 brings the context your app needs to stay in the moment: high-quality camera capture capabilities, voice inputs that turn speech into commands, and motion streaming so your experience can respond to head movement and orientation. Your app runs on AI glasses, but more importantly, it responds to how people move through the world. Learn more about what's new with Wearables Device Access Toolkit.

🎯 Action item:

Watch the Wearables Device Access Toolkit session from Meta Connect to see how our new capabilities can come together in a single sample app: BirdSpotter - this demo composes motion, camera, speech and display in one working project, making it a faster read than the reference documentation alone.

Build web apps for Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses

If you write HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, you already know how to build web apps for AI glasses. Web apps run on Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses without a native app or separate SDK. That means you can bring a site you already have, or build something new quickly.
Since we opened this path a few months ago, we've expanded what's possible. Your app can tune into the wearer's context, including device position, location, even wrist motion from Meta Neural Band. It can also take text input however fits the moment: dictation, handwriting, or an on-screen keyboard.
Going from an idea to a real app is faster too. The new UI Toolkit for Meta Ray-Ban Display and its accompanying skills help you build beautiful, interactive experiences that feel at home on glasses, and the browser-based simulator lets you test without hardware. Whether you're prototyping solo or extending an existing product, it's the lowest-friction path to glasses.
And we're going further still with WebMCP for web apps, which is currently in developer preview. With it, you can define what Meta AI can control in your app, and people get things done in it by asking, hands-free. You stay in control of exactly what Meta AI can touch. Learn more about all these new tools and get started on building web apps.
You define the tools your web app exposes. Meta AI calls them when someone asks, and answers through the glasses.

Bring your service to Meta AI with Meta AI connectors

We're introducing our newest way to build for AI glasses: Meta AI connectors, which let you connect your service directly to Meta AI so people can access it through our AI assistant without ever leaving the conversation. It turns your API into tools Meta AI can call. You define the actions, and Meta AI calls them when someone needs your service. There's no new SDK, no new app to ship, and no proprietary framework.
We're starting with AI glasses and Meta AI via app and web. As Meta AI connectors reach more surfaces and devices, your integration will grow with it.
Sign up to get early access to build your Meta AI connector today.
Your service connects to Meta AI through an API or MCP, and Meta AI calls it for people on AI glasses, web and mobile.

Get discovered by a growing audience

Building your experience is just the first step, but people still need to find it. For the past year, you have been building and testing with the community in developer mode. Now, for the first time, what you build can reach people directly.
Two new discovery surfaces are coming soon. On Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, you'll be able to find select experiences right on the device. In the Meta AI app, you'll be able to find a list of curated experiences for connected AI Glasses.
Soon, people will be able to discover what you build for AI glasses directly on Meta Ray-Ban Display and in the Meta AI app.
And these surfaces will continue to expand as we start to take submissions and approve more experiences to appear on these surfaces. Learn more about where your experience can appear and how to be featured.

What to do next

Here's how to put everything we covered into practice and start building for AI glasses:
  • Start building: pick your path and build for glasses today. Check our developer documentation for setup guides, references and samples for Device Access Toolkit and web apps. Sign up for the Meta AI Connectors developer preview here.
  • Create your developer account: Sign up in the Wearables Developer Center so that you're ready the moment submissions open. We'll share timing and details there first.
  • Catch up on Meta Connect: Watch Meta Connect developer sessions on demand to explore build paths, best practices, and capabilities you can leverage with the experiences you create.
The developers building for AI glasses now will define how people use them. We can't wait to see what you build!
