Create apps

Updated: Oct 1, 2025
To upload your app, create an app page using the Developer Dashboard. This will also generate an app ID. You need to create an app page and have an app ID before you can upload an app build to the dashboard.
To create an app page:
  1. Log on to the Meta Horizon Developer Dashboard.
  2. Click Create a New App.
  3. Enter the name of your app. The name is permanent and cannot be changed.
  4. From Platform, select Meta Quest (Store) or Link PC-VR.
  5. Click Create.

Modifying apps

You can modify your app’s details on the App Submission page of the Developer Dashboard after creating it. However, if you submitted your app for review, you must wait until the review is complete before making any changes. The metadata of your app includes its name, descriptions, keywords, category, genre, and more.
For detailed steps on modifying your app’s metadata, see the Providing App Metadata page.

Grouping apps (optional)

Grouping apps ensures that all apps in the group have the same platform settings. You can use the app grouping feature to share platform settings across apps that target different supported devices, which can save you time and effort as you develop your apps. For more information on app groupings, see Cross-Platform Development with App Groupings.

Deleting an app

You can voluntarily delete an app if necessary, even if it is a published app.
To delete an unpublished app:
  1. Sign in to the Developer Dashboard with an account assigned an administrator role.
  2. Find your app in the list, and then select ... > Delete App for that app.
To remove an app from the Meta Horizon Store:
Note that if the app you want to remove has an active Data Use Checkup (DUC) and you do not plan to re-list your app, you should opt-out of the DUC or you will be responsible for ongoing compliance requirements.
  1. Sign in to the Developer Dashboard with an admin account for the app.
  2. On the navigation bar click Team > My Apps.
  3. Select the app you want to remove from the store.
  4. On the navigation bar click Distribution then Store Availability.
  5. In the Choose how your app can be distributed section, uncheck the Public option. If you cannot uncheck the Public option, a tooltip will appear with a message that explains why the option is disabled.
  6. (Optional) You can opt-out of an active DUC at this step by using the sidebar to navigate to Requirements > Data Use Checkup and at the bottom of the list of permissions, click Remove all features.
  7. Click the Save button to proceed with delisting.
If you are the only admin in the app’s team, the app will be delisted immediately. If there are other admins on the team, an email will go out to all other admins notifying them that the app will be delisted in 24 hours. If they do not cancel the delisting, the delisting will proceed 24 hours from when you initiated it.
To restore an app to the Meta Horizon Store:
  1. Sign in to the Developer Dashboard with an account assigned an administrator role.
  2. On the My Apps page, select the app you want to re-add to the Store.
  3. On the navigation bar, click Distribution then Store Availability.
  4. In the Choose how your app can be distributed section, check the Public option. Note: If you cannot check the Public option, a tooltip will appear with a message that explains why the option is disabled.
  5. Click Save.
