Health and safety guidelines
As with all features—experimental or otherwise—developers should evaluate their apps’ design and content to support a comfortable and safe experience for users. Refer to the design section in the developer hub (see the design section) and the health and safety information below, applicable to the immersive experience system in your app.
Passthrough, depth, scene, and shared spatial anchors allow developers to create immersive applications that seamlessly blend virtual elements with the user’s physical environment. This page provides general guidance for using these tools to create immersive, engaging mixed reality experiences that meet users’ expectations and help protect them in combined physical and virtual worlds.
In some cases, these features can also support primarily passthrough immersive experiences without the boundary (formerly known as guardian); however, the boundary is recommended for fully immersive and immersive experiences. It is important to determine if your application aligns with the definition of passthrough immersive experiences and considers relevant guidance for your specific experience.
The
general information section includes additional considerations for different types of in-app experiences, developing for multiple devices, and possible mitigation strategies to enhance user comfort and safety in immersive experiences.
