Meta Credits are non-convertible tokens that are purchased with cash and used to acquire digital goods and services within Horizon. We first launched Meta Credits last year in Worlds in Meta Horizon, followed by the Avatar Editor earlier this year. In both situations, we have seen Meta Credits reduce purchase friction and drive higher purchase rates, and expect to see similar results as Meta Credits scale across Horizon apps. Soon all Horizon users will be able to Meta Credits for apps, in-app purchases, avatar goods, premium in-world items and more.

By opting in to be a part of the open beta program, you will give users the choice to make purchases using either the existing cash pricing or with Meta Credits for both in-app purchases and the purchase of an app through the Meta Horizon Store. Users will continue to see the cash price but will have the option to switch to Meta Credits if they prefer – giving users more flexibility in how they purchase. Purchases with Meta Credits are also faster and easier, without the need for credit card numbers, so that users can get to engaging with your content more quickly.

Participation

Beta Opt-In:Visit the Meta Credits page in the developer dashboard to opt-in to the Beta program. Once you have opted-in, you will only need to submit a new W-9/W-8 within the dashboard to receive payouts for purchases made with Meta Credits.

Duration: Once opted-in, participation will be ongoing. If you choose to pause your opt-in of Beta access at any point, please reach out to your Developer Relations manager, or submit a ticket within the Developer Support Center.

Merchandising: A Meta Credits shelf within the Store front will feature all apps where Meta Credits can be used.

Prices will automatically convert from the cash price you have set to the Meta Credits amount, so there is no additional work on your side. Earnings and fees will continue to be on a rev share of the cash price you set for your app and in-app purchases.

Are there any additional fees associated when a user purchases with Meta Credits vs cash?	No. Platform fees will be taken into account at the time a user purchases Meta Credits.
How is my rev share impacted?	Rev shares will remain the same whether a purchase was made in cash or Meta Credits. There will be no changes on how a developer is being paid out. Meta will calculate the rev share based on the cash price of the app or in-app purchase, and your payout reports will be inclusive of purchases made with both cash and Meta Credits.
What do I see in my dashboard?	You will continue to see total purchases, inclusive of purchases made with both cash and Meta Credits. Later this fall, we will provide filters to see purchases made with cash vs Meta Credits.
Can Meta Credits be used to buy in-game economy?	Yes, Meta Credits can currently be used to acquire in-game currency.
Will Meta be running promotions on Meta Credits?	While there are no scheduled promotions at this time, Meta will be planning some in the future to help accelerate the economy and drive first-time purchasers. Any promotions on Credit packs will be carefully considered to balance user value and ecosystem stability.
