Platform Abuse Policy
Updated: Aug 29, 2024
We encourage developers to create a variety of experiences that users will enjoy, distributed through the Meta Horizon platform. The platform offers APIs, SDKs, tools, plugins, code, technology, content and services that enable developers to run, debug, test and distribute their apps.
References to “you” in this policy mean you, your organization, and any individuals in your organization who are developers. Note that as long as you use developer mode, you are considered a developer for the purposes of this policy.
As a developer, you agree to and must comply with this Platform Abuse Policy, our
Terms of Service, the
Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences, and all other applicable policies. We may employ dedicated teams and develop advanced technical systems to detect misuse, and we reserve the right to review any app, developer, or developer organization at any time, and take appropriate action in accordance with our terms and policies, including but not limited to removing content, blocking access to certain features, disabling an account or organization, or contacting law enforcement.
- Do not upload or distribute:
- Content that contains malicious code, or that introduces or exploits security vulnerabilities.
- Content or software that interferes with normal system operation, including but not limited to the operating system or other apps on the devices.
- Content that is ripped, copied, not legally acquired, repetitive or spam.
- Do not use software or other tools to extract assets or content (e.g., videos, music, etc.).
- Do not confuse, deceive, impersonate or mislead anyone, or misrepresent yourself, your app, or your organization.
- Do not engage in fraud, scams, or any type of inauthentic behavior.
- Do not encourage, promote or engage in illegal activity.
- Do not abuse or misuse the platform. Use the platform as intended, e.g., follow the developer documentation.
- Do not attempt to bypass limits, manipulate the system, or otherwise evade any processes or restrictions for your app, account, organization or device.
- Do not violate any other provisions of the Meta Platforms Technologies Terms of Service or Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences, or any other Meta Platforms Technologies terms, policies or guidelines
If you are in violation of any of our policies, we may:
- Warn you that your conduct has violated our policies.
- Limit, suspend, or terminate your access to certain platform features, including developer mode or distribution channels.
- Limit, suspend, or terminate your account or your organization.
- Limit, suspend, or terminate any payouts, or recoup previous payouts.
- Ban you from creating another account or organization.
- Refer you to law enforcement.
We may inform you about the action we’ve taken via notification (developer dashboard and/or email) and may provide instructions on how to resolve the violation or submit an appeal.
We may also take any other approach to the enforcement of our policies, at our sole discretion, on a case-by-case basis, that we deem appropriate. This policy does not limit any other rights or remedies available to us.
