Incentivize Purchases with the New Promotions & Bundles Tools
Today, we’re excited to announce two new self-service tools that give you greater control over the pricing and marketing of your apps and their content: Promotions and Bundles. These tools enable you tocreate and submit promotional discounts and bundled content through the Developer Dashboard, and they’re available today for developers with apps and games listed in the Meta Quest Store.
From fitness apps to first-person shooters to productivity apps, the library of experiences our developer community has created so far is helping bring even more people into VR—and keeping them engaged longer. When it comes to marketing, no two apps share the same marketing playbook—even within specific app genres. Meta Quest user segments are global, diverse, and nuanced, making it critical to define your target audience and tailor your marketing efforts accordingly. That’s why we’ve been working to provide you with new self-service tools to help your app stand out in the Meta Quest Store, drive revenue, and give you greater control over how you monetize your app.
Dive in below to learn how Promotions and Bundles work and how they can incentivize purchases.
Promotions and Bundles: Choose an Offer that Fits Your Strategy
The Promotions Tool and Bundles Tool are available in the Developer Dashboard Org Manager on the left-hand navigation bar. Here’s an overview of each:
Promotion: Create a limited-time discount for an app
Bundle: Create a promotional bundle by combining an app with in-app purchases (IAPs), or bundle multiple apps together from the same organization
Developers can create Promotions and Bundles from the Developer Dashboard.
Support for concurrent discounts and bundles for apps belonging to the same organization can help you create offers that are tailored for different app genres and market strategies. For example, if your app contains numerous IAPs, submitting different bundle options may be more effective than a standard discount. Bundling apps with IAPs can help encourage retention and engagement by providing more content for people to engage with from the beginning of their app experience.
Promotions give you an easy way to discount your app throughout the year for cultural or seasonal marketing moments, and they can be leveraged when new content or updates are released. Promotions and Bundles are subject to Meta Quest Store review team approval and Store Guidelines, so we recommend submitting at least two weeks in advance to ensure you can go live with your offer on your target date. To drive visibility around your promotion or bundle in the Meta Quest Store, consider submitting new metadata in the Developer Dashboard to coincide with your offer.
Tailor Your Discount and Duration to Maximize Impact
On a more granular level, Promotions and Bundles give you the flexibility to modify your pricing and duration so you can maximize your offer’s impact on revenue and engagement.
When setting up your promotion or bundle, you’ll be able to select a discount percentage that makes sense for your app and/or content. Promotions will be enabled for the date range you set within the tool, while Bundles can either be limited to a specific date range or be enabled indefinitely.
Get Clarity and Transparent Feedback on Your Submission
We’ve heard your feedback about the need for accessible and transparent communication from our review teams when submitting content through the Developer Dashboard. We’re excited to share that the Promotions and Bundles Tools support bidirectional communication between you and our Meta Quest Store review team. This enables you to negotiate pricing discounts, keep track of recommendations from Meta, and view detailed comments with added context—all in one interface.
Communication from the review team can be found on the right-hand side within each promotion or bundle. After you submit your promotion, the Meta Quest Store review team will provide approvals and recommendations if necessary. If the review team flags recommendations, you can choose to go live with your offer via the “Accept Suggestions” button or adjust your parameters and re-submit for review. Your organization will also receive emails from Meta to update you with any changes to your submission.
As our platform grows, we want to continue supporting your success with tools that give you more flexibility and control as you monetize your VR experiences. We’re excited to see how you use Promotions and Bundles to drive more revenue throughout the year, and we’re confident these tools will have a positive impact for developers throughout our ecosystem.
