Mark your calendars—the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco is just around the corner! And today, we’re excited to share that VR developers can join Meta for a week of informative, interactive, and inspiring content.
From March 20 – 24, we’ll join game developers from around the world to network and connect over the latest in VR—including breakthroughs in MR technology, insights into the Meta Quest ecosystem, and the latest opportunities for developers building on Meta Quest.

What to Expect from Meta Quest at GDC

GDC is the game industry’s premier professional event, bringing the development community together to exchange ideas, solve problems, and shape the future of the industry. At last year’s GDC, we offered you insights into how Meta Quest became a billion-dollar ecosystem, women building the metaverse, and our Meta Quest Start and Launch Pad Builder Tracks for Meta Horizon Worlds. This year, we’re keeping the momentum rolling with:
  • Meta Booth (Booth S427) with demo rooms featuring best-in-class VR and MR experiences on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro
  • Four speaker sessions where you’ll hear from Meta Quest industry experts and game developers to connect, learn, and get inspired about VR and MR
Dive in below to get details about our speaker sessions and start planning your week at GDC 2023!

What You Need to Know:
Marvel’s Iron Man VR is a made-for-VR story that originally launched on PSVR in July 2020 and debuted on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro in December 2022. Iron Man is one of the most iconic Super Heroes, and the game lets players suit up in Tony Stark’s armor to take to the skies, having complete control of his gear, gadget, and weapons.
In this talk, Camouflaj developers will discuss adapting the title for standalone VR and share insights on the unique challenges and opportunities they faced.

Session 2: What's Up with VR? Meta Quest Today and Where It’s Going Tomorrow

  • When: Wednesday, March 22, 2:00 – 3:00 pm PT
  • Where: West Hall of the Moscone Center
  • Speaker: Chris Pruett, Director of Content Ecosystem, Meta
What You Need to Know:
The ongoing success of Meta Quest has proven that there’s a strong market for VR games. As the technology continues to improve, the length, depth, fidelity, and customer expectations of VR software are all on the rise.
But even as the VR games market matures, these devices are also unlocking opportunities for new game formats like mixed reality. This talk, presented by game industry veteran and Meta third-party games director Chris Pruett, will cover the state of the VR game industry on the Meta Quest Platform, including both business milestones and a peek into the future of VR technology.

Session 4: Build the Next Generation of VR and MR Experiences with Meta Presence Platform

  • When: Thursday, March 23, 3:00 – 3:30 pm PT
  • Where: West Hall of the Moscone Center

Session attendees will take a deep dive into Presence Platform capabilities like Hand Tracking, Passthrough, Spatial Anchors, Body Tracking, and immersive audio that are available for developers building virtual and mixed reality experiences for Meta Quest devices.

Get Hands-On with Demo Rooms

When it comes to the latest capabilities, it’s better to show rather than tell. That’s why this year, we’re letting developers get hands-on with demo rooms at Booth S427 showcasing best-in-class VR and MR experiences on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro.
Our demos are specifically curated to help you experience new breakthroughs in MR and discover opportunities for bringing games from other platforms to Meta Quest with real-world examples. Developers can expect to leave with a better understanding of how new advances in performance, hardware, and Presence Platform capabilities are driving the next evolution of immersive VR and MR experiences.
