In this challenge, you'll set up your development environment from scratch, configure your tools, and learn best practices for organizing your projects. By the end, you'll be ready to script, test, and launch your own creations efficiently—whether for mobile or VR!
You’ll learn how to:
  • Install and configure the Worlds Desktop Editor
  • Set up and connect an external IDE (like Visual Studio Code)
  • Connect your VR headset for advanced features

What You'll Need:

  • Windows PC
  • Access to the Worlds Desktop Editor
  • Meta Quest headset (optional, for VR features)

Challenge Steps:

1. Install and Launch the Desktop Editor

  • Download and install the Meta Worlds Desktop Editor (see the official documentation for the latest link).
  • Open the editor and create a new world project.

2. Set Up and Connect an External IDE

  • Download and install Visual Studio Code.
  • Test the connection by opening a script in your IDE from the Desktop Editor.

3. (Optional) Connect Your VR Headset

  • Connect your Meta Quest headset to your PC.
  • Try switching between Desktop and VR modes using the "Switch to VR" button.

Level Up:

  • Navigate through the different Templates available.
  • Experiment with VS Code extensions for TypeScript and Horizon scripting.
