Starting May 21, 2024, you’ll be required to take a quick survey to confirm the rating for your worlds. This will replace the previous step in the world publishing process, where we asked you to choose your own world rating (Everyone or 18+). We hope this change makes it easier for you and all our creators to find the best audience for your worlds.

The first time you publish a new world or republish your world after the survey goes live, you’ll need to complete it. After you complete the survey for the first time, consider retaking it if you’ve made significant changes to the content of your world.

Take the survey:

Make sure you’re in Build Mode in the world you’d like to publish.
Open your Creator Menu.
Tap the Publish icon in the dock to go to the Publish section.
Add world details, including a name, description and thumbnail.
Go to World rating > Get rating to take the survey.
Tap Publish.

How your response supports users

Your responses to the survey will help populate over 40 content descriptors that may be visible on your world details page. The content descriptors will help people know what they can expect, such as mild language, comic-like or realistic violence, or references to tobacco, alcohol, or gambling.

What’s a world rating?

World ratings help other people understand what to expect in your world. There are 2 different world ratings:

Choosing a content rating for your world can be confusing. Our quick survey helps you get the right rating for your world so you can find the best audience.

Content we ask you about

Content includes the world’s title, description and anything that’s part of the world’s design. It doesn’t include what people say or do when they’re in your world, or what other people post.

In the survey, you’ll be asked to let us know if any of the following things are in your world:

Violence	Like fighting, arena or boxing rings
Blood	Or other kinds of gore
Weapons	Like swords, guns or lasers
Nudity	Like naked or almost naked people, including people in their underwear
Sexual content or themes	Like people kissing or being intimate, or spaces focused on sex
Things that might scare people	Like horror themes, jump scares or loud noises
Gambling, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs	Or other things only adults can buy or use
Swear words	Or other kinds of offensive language
Body humor	Like burping, throwing up or gas

FAQ

When is the survey available? And where can I find it?	The survey will be available on May 21. You can access the survey by going to Build mode, choosing your world, and then going to World rating > Get rating.
By when do I need to complete the survey?	You will need to complete the survey the first time you publish or republish a world on and after May 21. After you complete the survey for the first time, consider retaking it if you’ve made significant changes to the content of your world.
Approximately how long will it take me to complete the survey?	The survey is quick and should take you no longer than a few minutes to complete.
What happens if I don’t complete the survey?	At this time, unless you are publishing or republishing a world, completing the survey is optional. Later this year, if you do not complete the survey, we’ll assign your world a default rating.
What’s in it for me? Will completing the updated survey bring any value to my world and community?	Your responses to the survey will help populate over 40 content descriptors that may be visible on your world details page. The content descriptors will help people know what they can expect if they visit your world and help you find the best audience for your worlds.
What do I do if the content in my world changes?	We encourage you to retake the survey if you’ve made significant changes to the content of your world.
What are the descriptors that will appear on my world details page (WDP)?	Content descriptors are short descriptions about the content your world contains. Examples of descriptors include realistic or fantasy violence, realistic blood or violence, references to tobacco, alcohol, or gambling, among the over 40 content descriptors. Content descriptors can help people better understand what they can expect when they visit a world.
What if I don’t agree with the content descriptors that are visible on my world details page?	Content descriptors are generated based on your responses to the world rating survey. Retake the survey to more accurately reflect the content in your world.
