Use the Sound Recorder gizmo
The Sound Recorder gizmo lets you record custom sounds from the mic on your headset. Each recording can be up to 20 minutes long.
- From Build Mode, select the Three Dot icon, then select the Build icon.
- Select Gizmos then grab the Sound Recorder gizmo and pull it into your world.
- While holding the gizmo, select the Three Dot icon, then select Record.
- Make a sound, then select Stop to stop recording or select Play to preview the recording.
- Looping: Turn this on to loop the sound continuously.
- Volume: This will adjust the volume your sound is played at inside your world.
- Pitch: Use this to adjust the playback speed.
- Play on Start: Turn this on to have the sound start playing as soon as a player enters the world.
- Global: Turn on this property to make the sound heard globally at the same volume regardless of a player’s position in the world. Turning Global off means the sound will be perceived as coming from the gizmo’s location in the world.
- Minimum Distance: The distance (in meters) at which a sound will be heard at maximum volume.
- Maximum Distance: The distance (in meters) at which a sound will no longer be heard.
- Information banners: The Sound Recorder property panel will provide info banners for the following cases:
- Before a sound is recorded, you’ll see a purple banner informing you that any sound recorded will be scanned for copyright. The purple banner will remain while the scan is in progress.
- You’ll see a green banner when the review is complete and successul.
- The banner will turn red if a sound has been muted entirely or partially.
- The World Publish menu will provide a warning banner whenever the world contains a Sound Recorder gizmo that is in review or muted.
- Full or partial mutes will trigger in-app notifications, emails, and a gizmo flash: When a sound in your world is muted (either in full or partially), you’ll receive in-app notifications and emails alerting you. The emails will provide a link for disputes to fb.me/horizon-sound. Gizmos with any mute will also flash red.
- Appeal support: If you believe you have the right to use blocked or muted content, please follow the process outlined at fb.me/horizon-sound. In addition to notification emails, this link is also provided in the banner on the Sound Recorder that alerts when mutes occur.
- Muting in both Build and Visit Modes: When Sound Recorders are muted, they will be muted in both Build and Visit Modes.
- Mutes from retroactive scans will also trigger notifications: Please visit fb.me/horizon-sound for more detail on retroactive scans and associated mutes. When these mutes happen, you will be alerted through the same mute mechanism described above—over email, through in-app notifications, and through the banner within the Sound Recorder.
