Heads Up: Meta Horizon Design Tests Coming Soon

Blog Hero Image
Today we’re providing developers and creators with early information on the new Horizon Feed in VR and mobile interface designs we’re testing to improve user engagement and discovery. We’re introducing significant updates to the in-headset Meta Horizon Feed and the Meta Horizon mobile app. We will start testing these changes with a small group of users this summer before rolling them out more broadly.
Many of these changes are the result of feedback we’ve received from customers, developers and creators. In particular, we intend to improve content discovery, create new ways to promote and highlight apps and worlds, and simplify navigation for mobile and VR experiences.
We’re rolling out these early tests now because August and September are historically months when user engagement dips before ramping back up in late fall. Testing now lets us learn and iterate before the all-important holiday season.

Horizon App

When opening the Meta Horizon mobile app, Feed is now front and center, replacing the existing avatar page. Additionally, we are moving the main navigation buttons to the bottom of the display and adding a dedicated Quest entry point that hosts both the Meta Horizon Store and device management functions. This design should feel more comfortable to users.

Horizon Feed

We are reimagining the Horizon Feed in VR to increase the number of titles it can promote, help customers differentiate between apps and worlds, drive social engagement and increase the visibility of personalized recommendations. With the updated design, users are dropped into a singular view where they can find and join friends, “Jump back in” to experiences and discover new titles.
Horizon Feed already makes personalized content recommendations, but with this change we can highlight a larger volume of recommendations in several visually distinct ways. The top of Horizon Feed will also show a large spotlight carousel of promoted apps and worlds. To learn more about Horizon Feed discovery, visit our latest article from June.

What’s Next?

These tests are starting to roll out today and will gradually continue through September. As a reminder, these changes will only appear to a subset of users in VR and on the mobile app. The purpose of these tests is to measure the impact these changes have on user behavior, and we may make further modifications to the design based on learnings.
Your feedback plays a key role in the changes we make to our platform, and we will continue listening to input from our developer and creator communities as we iterate. We look forward to sharing more improvements we’ve been working on with you during Meta Connect 2025.
