Meet the Winners of the $1M Meta Horizon Creator Competition: Mobile Genre Showdown

Blog Hero Image
As part of our $50 million investment in the Worlds creator community, earlier this year we kicked off a $1 million creator competition, themed “Mobile Genre Showdown,” to accelerate and reward innovative mobile world development. With hundreds of world submissions across 13 countries, this competition featured numerous first-time world creators looking to hone their skills and turn imaginative ideas into engaging mobile experiences.
Yesterday, we revealed the competition winners. Today, we’re diving deeper into their standout worlds and spotlighting the creators behind them. Keep reading below to learn more about their build process and find links to jump in and discover the magic of mobile worlds.

Meet the Top Award Winners

The Mobile Genre Showdown spotlighted five top genre categories, awarding $100,000, $30,000, and $20,000 to the first, second, and third place winners, respectively.

Best Party Game: Blast Riders by PigeonNo12 and RexRod

Blast Riders gives players a bird’s-eye view of the ultimate battlefield as they navigate constantly-moving vehicles in an attempt to shoot and collide with other players and be the last one standing. Featuring a short, competitive game loop and extra environmental dangers like volcanic lava, Blast Riders compels players to think quickly and make rapid decisions that deliver epic, rewarding moments.
“On the scripting side the major challenge was to keep the number of RPC calls in check, since the vehicles are in constant movement. I decided to keep the avatars as spectators, giving us additional budget and rendering capacity for all the dynamics in the world.” - PigeonNo12
“For each building I baked the environment info from Blender model high-poly version into low poly version of the buildings for optimization. Bringing down the entire city from 147,000 vertices to 12,000 vertices.” - RexRod
Blast Riders was built using a combination of the Worlds desktop editor, Blender, Illustrator and Visual Studio Code. Learn more about the build process and try out the world today.

Best Obby / Platformer: Spaced Out by Domeoc

Spaced Out is a platformer exploration game where players chart surreal worlds and discover new adventures across the dimensional rift. Supporting up to four players, the game features three distinct levels that offer various challenges and unique visual styles to introduce players to the feel and mechanics of dimensional travel.
“With the dimensional theme of Spaced Out, I have the freedom to keep things fresh, jumping into ideas from a cyberpunk city to an underwater world, while staying grounded in the core concept.” - Domeoc
Spaced Out was built using the Worlds desktop editor, Visual Studio Code, Blender, ZBrush, Photoshop and Artlist. Learn more about the build process and try out the world today.

“I’ve always been a fan of simulation games, and I love cooking through experimentation. So I combined the two! No matter the culture or the dish, celebration often happens around a shared meal—and I wanted that feeling of community and discovery to be the reward for culinary exploration.” - Ashes2Ashes2
Let Me Cook! was built using a combination of Blender for asset creation, TypeScript for scripting and Photoshop for UI elements. Learn more about the build process and try out the world today.

“I'm new to typescript, my experience being mainly C++ and C#. I've been typing furiously for many, many hours over the last two months. This ambitious project has a lot of moving parts. I've used a variety of sourcing for assets, including making some myself, using mesh gen AI, image gen and buying a bunch for CGTrader.” - StormingDecker
Cometfall was built using the Worlds desktop editor, TypeScript and Blender. Learn more about the build process and try out the world today.

For world-building, I relied on the Meta Horizon Desktop and VR Editors, while Horizon Sound Generator and Eleven Labs helped me create the perfect sound design, ensuring an immersive experience with engaging sound effects and music. Canva was also integral to creating the UI and promotional material.” - Kawaii.Creator
