What You'll Need:
Challenge Steps:
1. Identify what players can purchase in your world.
- Think about your world and consider the interactions the player has within it.
- Does the player use tools or weapons? Does the player have health or other traits?
- What IWPs could you add?
- Why would players want to purchase those items?
2. Pricing Strategies
- Consider your world's target audience. Think about the type of lives that have. The expenses they may have in their day to day lives. Think about what kind of money they may be able to spend.
- Now let's think about how we can apply that knowledge and come up with a pricing strategy. We will want three steps on our ladder. The first step will be low cost ($1-$3) consumable items. Perhaps it's a XP boost for a short time or a temporary effect on an interaction within the world.
- The next step will be our middle step items ($10-$15). These can be permanent cosmetics, starter packs, temporary player boosters.
- Our final step will be the high step ($30+). These premium cosmetics, permanent player upgrades.
3. Create an IWP
- Now that you have found some items that could be an in-world purchase and figured out your pricing strategy it's time to make your first IWP.
- Create a commerce item.
- Systems > Commerce > + > Create and list in-world item
- Give the item a name and description.
- Import a thumbnail of the image using the Import Image button.
- Set the item's price.
- NOTE: $1 is about 100 Credits.
- Set the items type, Durable or Consumable.
- Set the asset reference if necessary and create the item.
- Place the In-world Purchase gizmo.
- Build > Other > In-world Purchase
- In the gizmo’s Properties panel set the In-world item to the newly created item.
- Perform a test purchase.
- NOTE: This can only be done in VR or on mobile.
